Message from the Representative
Message from the President

When you hear the announcement, “We are now beginning our descent,” you may catch a glimpse of the eastern part of the Tomakomai area below. Located on the Pacific side of Hokkaido, this area includes one city and two towns — Tomakomai City, Atsuma Town, and Abira Town — and covers a vast area of 10,700 ha (approx. 1.7 times the size of the area of Tokyo inside the Yamanote Line loop). It is the largest industrial area in Japan. Tomatoh Inc. is a company engaged in developing industrial land in this area, offering properties for sale or lease to support its effective use. By leveraging its strengths — driving power, locational advantages, environmental resources, and human capital — the company actively promotes diverse industrial development and contributes to the advancement of the region’s social and economic landscape.
Driving power refers to energy — including mega solar and biomass projects, as well as efforts to decarbonize coal-fired power plants. Location advantages refer to the area’s exceptional accessibility. Tomakomai Port, the gateway to Hokkaido, is nearby with the eastern port district, where ferries bound for the Sea of Japan, international container ships, and coal carriers operate regularly, located within the Tomatoh area, while New Chitose Airport and a developing semiconductor hub are both just 20 minutes away by car. There are also three high-standard highway interchanges connecting to expressways that run across Hokkaido within the region, making it a key transportation hub.
The region’s environmental resources are exemplified by its 3,200 ha of green space. In the Tsutamori Forest at the heart of the area, national tree-planting and tree-cultivation festivals, including the Hokkaido Tree-Planting Festival, have been held. The area offers rich seasonal nature — mountain vegetables in spring, haskap berries in summer, and vibrant autumn foliage. Nearby, visitors can also enjoy outdoor activities such as surfing, horseback riding, and walking along footpaths.
Supporting all of these features in a concrete way is our human capital. Within Tomakomai City and its surrounding areas, there are universities, technical colleges, industrial high schools, vocational schools, and specialized training institutes. Our employees also bring both strong expertise and agility to their work. We provide comprehensive support for business activities as we collaborate with municipalities and the Hokkaido Government to offer ongoing assistance to companies located in the area. We also facilitate networking opportunities through business roundtables and we organize seminars on economic topics to promote inter-company collaboration.
Since returning as president of this company after nine years, I have become keenly aware of the significant changes taking place in this region. Today, the Tomatoh area confronts various challenges on its way to becoming a leading region in GX. I warmly invite you to visit this area and experience firsthand the sense of how the future is taking shape here in Tomatoh.
