Natural Environment

Lake Utonai, located within Tomakomai, is designated as a Ramsar Convention wetland and serves as a treasure trove for over 270 species of wild birds.
Mt. Tarumae, a globally rare triple volcano, offers magnificent views of Lake Shikotsu and the Pacific Ocean.
Furthermore, there are places where you can enjoy activities such as mountain hiking, camping, golfing, and horseback riding, making it the area where you can fully enjoy living in harmony with nature.

Traffic

About 8 km to the Tomakomai-Higashi Interchange of the Hokkaido Expressway, the heart of Hokkaido’s transportation network. There are also three interchanges on the Hidaka Expressway within the Tomatoh Area, and with National Routes 36, 234, and 235 crossing through the area, Tomatoh serves as a gateway for distribution throughout Hokkaido.
The JR Freight Tomakomai Freight Station lies 9 km west of the Tomatoh Area, enabling nationwide rail freight.

Natural Environment

With over 3,200 ha of green spaces, the Tomatoh Area coexists with nature. Particularly notable among these green spaces is the Tsutamori Forest, which is a habitat to many birds and small animals, and a wonderful place to enjoy the four seasons, with mountain vegetables in spring, haskap berries in summer, and crimson leaves in autumn. And, under special measures of the Factory Location Act, it is not necessary to establish further green spaces within each factory site.
